Start in Windhoek and journey to the heart of the Namib Desert. Stay at the exclusive Dead Valley Lodge within the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This prime location allows you to witness the breathtaking sunrise and sunset over the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and experience the energy of the Namib Desert, where time stands still.
ITINERARY DAY-TO-DAY
Day 1
Windhoek – Sesriem with a guided excursion to the Sesriem Canyon
Embark on a scenic drive from Windhoek to Sesriem. Your adventure begins at the Windhoek Truckport, where you’ll meet your Namibia2Go shuttle.
As you journey south, marvel at the stunning landscapes:
- Heroe’s Acre: Pay homage to Namibia’s fallen heroes at this iconic memorial.
- Window Bridge: Admire the breathtaking vista through this natural frame.
- Rehoboth: Explore this historic town, home to the Rehoboth Basters.
The route then turns southwest, winding through the arid Namib Desert. Pass by the Sam Khubis Memorial, a poignant reminder of the Baster’s resistance against German colonial rule. Your final destination is Sesriem, the gateway to the otherworldly Sossusvlei. Check into Dead Valley Lodge and unwind with a guided tour of the dramatic Sesriem Canyon, followed by a sundowner and dinner.

Day 2
Sossusvlei Sunrise Adventure
Start your day with an unforgettable sunrise experience. Depart one hour before sunrise to witness the breathtaking dawn over the iconic Sossusvlei dunes. Climb the towering Dune 45 for panoramic views of the desert landscape.
Embark on a challenging but rewarding hike up Big Daddy, the tallest dune in the area. From its summit, descend into the surreal Deadvlei, a haunting landscape of ancient, skeletal trees. Enjoy a delicious packed breakfast from Dead Valley Lodge while your knowledgeable guide shares insights into the desert’s history, ecology, and unique features.
Explore the mysterious fairy circles and visit the Monument before returning to the lodge.

Day 3
Return to Windhoek
Enjoy a relaxing morning at your lodge. Your shuttle back to Windhoek departs the Sossus Oasis Service Station (across the road from Sossusvlei Lodge) at 13:00. The 5-hour (345km) route from Sesriem to Windhoek follows the road northwards to Rehoboth and from there onwards to Windhoek. Driving through the desert before skirting the impressive Naukluft Mountains, you’ll find some of Namibia’s most spectacular scenery. Arrive at the Windhoek Truckport at around 18:00.
