A Story that Starts in Africa.
Our Story
We’re a family business started by husband + wife team, Conrad and Hanneke Dempsey. We met in high school in Windhoek and, like most young Namibians, left the country after school to study abroad and travel the world.
After years of working in banking, advertising and film in South Africa, Europe and Australia – Namibia called us home. We returned to raise our two boys on African soil and made a point of rediscovering her iconic places and friendly faces.
On one of these safari adventures, sitting gin + tonic in hand, watching a spectacular African sunset, the idea of African Wanderer Tours + Safaris was born. And as they say – the rest is history. For the past 20 years, we’ve been guiding adventurers, like you, on truly memorable, handcrafted journeys across Southern Africa.

We love Africa and honestly believe that her wild places are balm to the soul. We also passionately believe in responsible tourism and its ability to help keep Africa wild and wonderful.

Because we’re small we can keep our costs low and ensure that you get the best possible value for your travel budget. Booking through us should cost the same as booking directly. We earn commission from our suppliers and don’t add extra charges ‘on top’. It is common for our customers to actually save money by booking with us.
